Green Gears works with George Barris on Custom Prius

Green Gears was contracted to do a PHEV conversion for renown car builder George Barris. The project was featured in a Japanese car magazine and generated significant interest from auto manufactures’ buying agents who want to buy Hymotion PHEV units for testing purposes.

V2Green system installations

The V2Green data logger is the most valuable tool available for fleet operators who want to pinpoint how to save on fuel costs.

The antenna transmits data to a wireless router once the car comes back home to the fleet yard or shop. The same antenna also receives GPS satellite data that will allow the fleet operator to see the exact route the vehicle traveled during each drive cycle. I regularly review vehicle mileage, top speed , battery state of charge and recharge time for my fleet customers who use the V2Green Data Logger. Data can also be transmitted through a cellular link allowing the fleet operator to see real time data through the V2Green website.

V 2 Green system installation

Nick Rothman and Seth Bridges Head Engineer from V2Green work together to install a data logger and charge management system. We can monitor the vehicles in real time using a cellular communications link. This system allows utilities to control load on the electric grid by adjusting charge rate on PHEV vehicles. Eventually we will send power back into the grid from the vehicle battery system in order to minimize excessive loads on the power grid. See www.v2green.com for more details.

The data logger can store 2-4 gb of high resolution data files for review.

This is a Ford Escape pack removed from the vehicle. This is an interesting pack. The blue straps seen on the sides are for crash protection.

LA County Water and Power Three Vehicle System Installation

Installation of three PHEV systems for Los Angeles Water and Power was filmed by Matt Kelly of The Next GearPodcast , a podcast that focuses on cutting edge transportation technology.

LA County Water and Power’s EV tech Ron assisted the Green Gears team during the installation of three PHEV systems.

This is one of the remaining 80 RAV4 EV’s in the LAWP fleet, at one time LA County Water and Power had over 340 RAV EV’s in service.

Here Pat Cadam is installing the “EV only button” wiring in a Prius. In the background is an electric Van from the 1960′s that is still maintained by LA County Water and Power.

Central Vermont Public Service PHEV installation

Here a high voltage connection being made inside the Toyota battery. The precharge resistor, current sensor and contactors are visible. Proper saftey procedures are important. The oarange gloves are a precaution, no voltage is present at these connections.

This photo shows the graphics applied to differentiate this PHEV Prius from the other Prius in the CVPS fleet.
